Hans Schwarz holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry through the University of Heidelberg in Germany. He joined BASF in 1986. He started in 2002 to have contact with HSE field, since he was responsible for major additions to BASF’s Polyetheroles process technology and process safety optimization of logistics, material flow in the site network. In 2010 he was VP Process Safety at BASF where he made a significant reduction of incidents based on consequent application of metrics and improved safety reviews of existing plants. Nowadays he is VP Process & Occupational Safety at BASF where he streamlines BASF’s internal Safety Guidelines. Hans lives in Germany with his wife and 3 beautiful daughters.
At Shire Pharmaceuticals Greg Newey is the Environment, Health and Safety Associate Director/EHS Lead for the UK, EU/APAC countries. He specifically supports a number of key EHS areas such as Fire Prevention, Accident Management, HSE Legal Compliance, Driver Safety and Office Safety - which includes Office Ergonomics, Waste Minimisation, Occupational Health and Wellbeing initiatives. Greg also conducts various EHS assessments and visits to comply with EHS regulatory requirements and to reduce identified EHS risks. He has spent over 25 years in HR/H&S and the last 16 years in EHS, with such companies as Esso Exploration, Bell and Howell, Bowater Scott, and The BOC Group. In his spare time, his passion is fly fishing and fly tying plus he love all kinds of sport from following Aston Villa Football Club (the Newey’s are now 5 generations with its support), watching rugby, cricket and play golf and tennis.
Colm Murphy is the EMEA Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Director at Kerry Group. Colm joined Kerry in 2015 to lead Kerry’s efforts in delivering world-class processes, performance and culture for HSE and sustainability across Kerry EMEA’s 40+ manufacturing facilities. Colm has previously held safety roles in a range of industries, from pharmaceuticals and manufacturing to health care and consultancy. This included over 5 years as Diageo’s Global Safety lead, supporting over 150 manufacturing facilities worldwide and offices in over 60 countries. Colm is a chartered member of IOSH, holds a BSc. in Industrial Chemistry and a MSc. in Occupational Health, Safety and Ergonomics.
Jarosław Marszałek joined Skanska in 2008. For all this years he used to work in EHS field both on construction and development divisions. He spent 9 months in Skanska UK developing his experience in building a real Health and Safety culture. Except for his regular duties, he performs roles of Internal Auditor and Innovation Champion for Skanska CDE.
Sebastian Bartels works with stakeholders to develop and enhance executive leadership, safety processes and solutions that optimize and change organizational functioning and performance. As a skilled and experienced consultant, manager and leader, Sebastian Bartels is Vice President of Business Development at DEKRA Insight and helps organizations to achieve their business, culture and safety related goals. He works with senior executives, leadership teams and other key stakeholders to help them create a vision for the future state of their organization and to design necessary implementation and change actions. Sebastian Bartels has a strong technical background and over a decade of experience in safety and environmental engineering, risk management and fire protection. In addition, he is experienced in hazardous substances management, demographic and ergonomic advisory, EH&S management systems and quality assurance, meaning that Sebastian is able to connect C-Suite level challenges with technical aspects in order to create effective strategies. Sebastian Bartels holds a University degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Safety and Environmental Engineering, is a Certified Auditor for Quality and Environmental Management Systems, Certified Safety Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Manager, Demographic Consultant and a Certified Construction Site Health and Safety Coordinator.
Renata joined Skanska in May 2011. For over 4 years she used to work as a HR Business Partner supporting people’s development in Czech Republic and Poland. She also managed global programs for Skanska leaders. Through her great passion of growing innovative culture she changed her role into Innovation Manager in February 2016. She is responsible in building the culture, creative innovation value chain and implementation of innovations in Skanska Property Poland.
Mehmet Celepoglu is currently the VP HSEQ & Sustainable Development at Total. He joined Total in 1992 and built a broad International Career, since he had the chance to work on very demanding environments, Turkey, Egypt, India, Marocco, Jordan and many more. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management through Istanbul Technical University and also studied English and Business English at the University of Technology in Sydney.
Martin Kruska is responsible for the European business development for Sustainability & Energy Management services of Siemens Building Technologies, comprising advisory services and projects in the areas of energy efficiency, energy management, strategic procurement and regulatory advice for industry, public organizations and the service sector. Martin has been in the energy management business for over 20 years in different positions and responsibilities as manager, advisor, team leader, project manager and trainer in the area of industrial energy management, climate change and international development. He is author of several publications and books on energy efficiency in the industrial sector and on climate change policy issues.
Andrea is an accomplished senior Environment Health & Safety leader. His professional achievements are supported by a strong scientific and technical background.With General Electric (Alstom till the acquisition in 2015), he is based at the Baden headquarters in Switzerland as Senior Regional Operations Manager. He is the EHS Pole Leader for Gas Projects Europe & Africa, in charge of developing and implementing the overall EHS strategy. Andrea promotes EHS at 360°, liaising with customers’ senior management already from the sales phase, delivering trainings from executive management down to project sites engineers and being a keynote speaker at international EHS events and conferences. He is a certified lead and senior auditor for several management systems and a senior trainer for behavioral safety, leadership programs and accident investigation courses. He leads the development of trainers and deployment of EHS courses accredited by IOSH and the Accident Investigation training. As a solid foundation to many advanced professional certificates, Andrea holds a Bachelor Degree in “Forestry and Environmental Sciences” and a Master Degree in “Environment and Risk analysis”.
Tom is a director of Industrial Hygiene for the sector of Innovative Materials, a set of global manufacturing activities for the Saint-Gobain group. His experience reach through a variety of different industries from agrochemicals to solar and plastics to ceramic materials. He holds a Master degree in nutritions with a major in bio-chemistry and a PhD in Toxicology.
Jay Beers has been working with AECOM for the last 10 years leading the SHE programs globally and regionally and he is currently focusing on supporting the growing business in the UKI. Currently, the AECOM team in the UKI numbers about 10,000 employees working across a wide range of project types from traditional project consulting to heavy infrastructure projects to design, build finance, and operate large scale commercial and residential construction projects. To support the diversity of work they are constantly trying to be innovative in their approach to effective safety programs with a focus on Behavioural based safety and strong employee involvement. Prior to AECOM, Jay worked 20 years with BP leading global SHE teams. He has a BS in Civil Engineering and a MBA and he is a registered Professional Engineer in the US.
Dr. Stephan Heck is the chairman of the DSM Quality Council. DSM is active in Material and Life Science Industry. The company has a strong SHE culture and is leading the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Before joining DSM Stephan was responsible for the SHE and Quality organization of the Cognis group – now part of BASF. Next to the classical risk management approaches to safeguard occupational and process safety Stephan put the focal point on employees and contractors´ behavior to further strive towards zero incidents. Stephan also worked as production manager in the oleochemical industry in Germany and Malaysia. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cologne.
Tim is a Chartered Fellow of IOSH and is currently employed by Leeds Beckett University as the course leader for the MSc Occupational Safety and Health the BSc Honours degree in Safety, Health and Environment Management. He has been the lead academic in developing the Franchise Arrangement for MDIS in Singapore. He is a Past President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, and has been instrumental in driving forward a scheme of mentoring among the health and safety profession. Currently he is the Chair of the IOSH Professional Standards Committee. His Masters Degree in Training and Development has provided the foundations for his research interests and published papers that encompass improving leadership in classrooms and workplaces, as well as developing employee knowledge and skills. He has a varied range of work experiences including public transport, health, education and defence. He is a graduate of Huddersfield, Nottingham Trent University and Leeds Beckett University.
