Given the success of our previous events in Berlin in 2016 and Munich in 2017, the third edition of the Automotive Advanced Suspension Systems Summit will prove to be just as successful as its predecessors.
Read moreThis Summit will give participants the opportunity to hear presentations and take part in panel discussions as well as network with their peers. This Summit will also include OEM insights into the latest suspension trends, including active, fully active, passive, semi-active, air, electromagnetic and electronic suspension systems. The Summit will also discuss the diversity of practical approaches to autonomous driving, sensors and ADAS, and its correlation with suspension modifications. Innovations in dampers, shock absorbers and springs, as well as materials advances, will be discussed by practitioners from top-ranked companies.

J.J.H. Paulides received his MPhil and PhD from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2000 and 2005, respectively. His research interests span all facets of electrical machines and actuators, with an emphasis on how these devices enable sustainability and their uniqueness in terms of multidisciplinary research. He is a program/technical member of various conferences related to electromagnetism and more electric applications. He is the CEO of the AE-Group, a specialised company manufacturing special electric machines and magnetic assemblies within the Netherlands. This company is able to deliver active suspension systems commercially for application at OEMs looking for the ultimate ride quality and handling performance.
Sergio M. Savaresi received a master’s in electrical engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 1992), a PhD in systems and control engineering (Politecnico di Milano, 1996), and a master’s in applied mathematics (Catholic University, Brescia, 2000). After his PhD, he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co in Milan. He has been a full professor of automatic control at Politecnico di Milano since 2006. He is also the deputy director and chair of the systems and control section of the department of electronics and computer sciences, Politecnico di Milano. He is the associate editor of the publications IEEE Transactions on Control System Technology, European Journal of Control and Control Engineering Practice, and he has authored more than 500 scientific articles. His main interests are in the areas of vehicle control, automotive systems, data analysis and system identification, nonlinear control theory and control applications. He is the co-founder and partner of seven different spin-off companies.
Alessandro Peyrot graduated in automotive engineering at Politecnico of Turin in March 2014 and wrote his thesis on NVH CAE analysis deployed towards Volvo Car Corporation. He works at FCA as a junior vehicle dynamics performance engineer on small SUV platforms, and since 2015 he has been assigned to the Mini platform as a performance engineer and to methodological development work groups as a technical specialist.
Ingemar Johansson received his master’s in mechanical engineering in 1980 from Linköping University of Technology. He began his career at Volvo BM and Volvo Trucks working with transmissions. In 1986, Ingemar started to work with chassis engineering at Volvo Cars, where he worked in a team that developed new suspension systems for a high-volume platform. In 1996, he started to work for Alcoa Automotive Structures in the sales department for structural aluminium systems and components. In 1999, Ingemar moved to England and started to work at Lotus Engineering and Lotus Cars, where he was responsible for all chassis systems in both Lotus Elise 2 and Lotus Evora. While at Lotus, Ingemar also worked with high-level chassis development for clients and began his cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. In 2012, he started to work for Williams Advanced Engineering. In 2014, Ingemar moved back to Sweden and now has a position as a senior adviser within chassis engineering at China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT). From 2016, Ingemar also has a part-time position as a professor of the practice within Vehicle Engineering and Autonomous Systems at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Daniel Mainz graduated in automotive and aerospace engineering from Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in 2008. He started his career in the automotive industry in the field ofbody engineering as a technical consultant at Ingolstadt (Germany). After two years, he switched positions to vehicle dynamics and chassis engineering at Ford Motor Company. At the Ford Research & Innovation Center Aachen, he is responsible for global (mainly US and EU) lightweight chassis research projects, including new material approaches for chassis, new designs, new axle concepts and vehicle dynamics projects.
Through the global footprint of Ford Motor Company, he has experience working in Europe and the US as well as holding a broad network within the main markets of Ford.
Guido Tosolin graduated in mechanical engineering at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on advanced tyre-integrated sensors in collaboration with Pirelli. With more than 10 years of experience in the automotive industry, he has supported the suspension development project for several OEMs worldwide, always focussing on vehicle dynamics performance. At IDIADA, he is the product manager of the Chassis Development group in the Vehicle Dynamics department. In this position, he is responsible for planning and carrying out vehicle development programmes and advanced simulation activities.
Jason Zheng Jiang received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Ph.D. degree in Control Theory from the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. Dr Jiang joined the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Bristol in 2013. He serves as the academic lead of the Vibration Suppression Research Unit, Dynamics and Control Group, and also an EPSRC Research Fellow on ‘Multidomain Vibration-Absorber Design’. Dr Jiang has long-standing research collaborations with industrial stakeholders from Automotive, Wind Energy, Rail and Civil sectors.
Ed Knoy has spent 29 years working in the auto industry, all with Ford Motor Company. He has worked in various regions, including Germany (20 years), USA (6 years) and Brazil (3 years), and has had various positions in chassis engineering, vehicle development, quality and body engineering.
